Perched on Dragon Mountain (Long Son), Lung Cu Flag Tower lies in Dong Van District, Ha Giang Province — right on the Vietnam–China border. At an elevation of 1,470 meters above sea level, the tower stands as a bold statement of sovereignty, with a massive red flag fluttering against the backdrop of dramatic mountain scenery.
From Ha Giang city, the journey to Lung Cu takes around 6–7 hours by motorbike, passing through winding passes, terraced fields, and vibrant ethnic markets.
The current Lung Cu Flag Tower is 33 meters tall, with the flag itself measuring 54 m² — representing Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. The site is steeped in history, tracing back to the reign of the Ly Dynasty, and has been rebuilt and renovated several times to become the proud monument it is today.
Climbing the 389 steps to the base, and then another 140 steps inside the tower, rewards you with a 360-degree panoramic view of mountains, valleys, and remote border villages.
